NEW PLAY DEVELOPMENT

Christy is particularly proud of her involvement in the creation of new work in American theater, directing more than 25 staged readings and as President of the Board of Seven Devils Playwrights Conference.

Each June, since 2001, theater artists from around the country have gathered in the rural, mountain community of McCall, Idaho for the Seven Devils Playwrights Conference. Now entering its 20th year, the Conference has developed and presented nearly 200 new American plays and has offered free play writing workshops led by some of the country’s finest playwrights including Elaine Romero, Samuel D. Hunter, Adam Rapp, Robert Schenkkan, Lee Blessing, Richard Dresser, Eugene Lee, Sherry Kramer, Jeni Mahoney, Caridad Svich, John Olive, Eric Coble and Kara Lee Corthron.

Seven Devils believes that the best version of the play is the one the playwright is trying to realize. The Conference exists to support that process. Christy believes these experiences with Seven Devils have deepened her connections with playwrights, and allows her to be particularly effective in identifying and developing new work.
